Versatile design polymath enhancing visual storytelling and diversity in design

Becky Scheel, a service designer and Creative and Community Lead at Harmonic Design has a unique design journey. Her versatility is evident in her diverse background, which includes UX, exhibit design, data visualization, and graphic design. Her experience, ranging from zoos to agencies, has allowed her to create experiences for all primate users, showcasing her as a design polymath.

Her participation in outreach with Harmonic and her role on the advisory board of the College of Design at Georgia Tech, where she supports and leads the board’s outreach and communication initiatives, are part of her efforts to improve diversity in the field.

Charismatic megafauna and designer for human and non-human great apes

Mid-career, she returned to Georgia Tech for her master’s degree, focusing on design with emerging technology in dynamic environments, where she published her work on digital enrichment for orangutans. Her recent project with Oklahoma City Zoo extends this work. She is passionate about wildlife, red pandas, and giving a h*ck.
